Error in upgrading to Wordpress 2.1 “Ella” — Cannot redeclare widget_gsearch_init()

I have updated the site to the current version (2.1 Ella). After following the instructions in this site and activating some of my plugins, i encountered a “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare widget_gsearch_init()” error. I traced the problem to be caused by widgets from Automattic. I deleted my gSearch.php file (which i don’t need by the way) since i coded my template manually. And voila! It works again.

For wordpress users out there, make sure to backup your files and database before making any updates. Also, make sure that your plugins are compatible with the current version before installing or activating it. If you encounter any problem such as the one i had, try deactivating the plugin to resolve the problem. If in any case you cannot open your site or even the admin page and encountered this error, try deleting or renaming your gSearch.php file. Worked for me.
